On October 20 (Monday) at 4:00 PM, the opening of the mobile exhibition “Humanity over the Abyss of Hell” will take place at the Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine.” The project is implemented by the NGO “Center for Studies of Memory Policy and Public History “Mnemonika” (Rivne).
The exhibition “Humanity over the Abyss of Hell” is dedicated to the time of unprecedented bloodshed in the history of mankind, one of the most tragic pages in the history of mankind – World War II. In those years, in particular, the genocide of Jews and Roma took place in Ukraine and Volhynia, carried out by Nazi Germany and its accomplices. Ukrainians, Poles, Czechs also became victims of the sharp aggravation of interethnic relations in 1943-1944.
The ominous marker of wartime misery was the crisis of humanity, and humanity found itself above the abyss of evil. In conditions of paralyzing fear, those brave people who valued human life above all else came to the aid of victims of genocides and ethnic violence. Among the knights of the heart are ordinary people who dared to save Ukrainians and Jews, Poles and Czechs.
This exhibition is dedicated to the giants of spirit and humanity who, in conditions of total violence, bloodshed and an unprecedented crisis of humanism, saved their fellow man in the territories of Western Volyn (modern Rivne and Volyn regions). Currently, in conditions of a full-scale criminal war waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the entire democratic world, the materials of the exhibition are more relevant than ever.
Special guest of the event – Dr. Kateryna Popova, Chairwoman and Project Manager of the GO “Center for Studies of Memory Policy and Public History “Mnemonika” (online).
