110th anniversary of the Dnipro Art Museum founding

12.07.2024

On July 11, researchers from Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine’ visited the Dnipro Art Museum. The meeting was initiated by the Dnipro Art Museum team, which has just celebrated its 110th anniversary. The leading researcher Ihor Trush introduced us to the history of the Museum, and the art critic Volodymyr Malikov led an exceptional tour of the main exhibitions currently presented at the Museum.

A great emotional charge was received from the exposition, compiled based on the results of the charitable art project “Zhiva. True love stories” (curator – artist and art connoisseur Serhii Burbelo). The exhibition presents 27 works by the wives of Heroes from the Dnipro, Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih who died in the Russian-Ukrainian war.

With great interest, we viewed the exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the world-famous artist of Jewish origin, Vadym Sidur. (After all, a separate block was opened in the permanent exposition of Museum “Jewish Memory and the Holocaust in Ukraine” for the anniversary of our outstanding compatriot). At the exhibition, the Dnipro Art Museum presents graphic works and two models of the artist's sculptures: “Treblinka” and “Monument to the Fallen Children”, donated to our city by the German Slavologist professor Karl Eimermacher.

Finally, we viewed the exhibition of gifts received by the museum on the anniversary. These are works of modern art, which can be used to understand the main trends in the development of modern painting in Ukraine and the development of the local Dnipro tradition. Children's works of students were also presented. We left the Museum building with great gratitude for the impressions we received. Once again, we congratulate the DHM team on their anniversary! We hope for further fruitful cooperation.
