Relay of memory dedicated to the Righteous Among the Nations

Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine” continues to hold events dedicated to the Day of Remembrance of Ukrainians who saved Jews during World War II.

On May 15, a relay of memory was held online, in which schoolchildren from Vinnytsia, Lviv, and Khmelnytsky regions took part. The event was moderated by the deputy director of the Museum, Dr. Yehor Vradiy, and the coordinator of educational programs, Iryna Piskaryova.

At the beginning of the commemorative event, Dr. Yehor Vradii gave a speech-presentation dedicated to the Righteous Among the Nations of the Dnipropetrovsk Region. In particular, he noted that today there are 70 Righteous Among the Nations (according to the Ukrainian list) and 4 (according to other national lists) who took part in 39 cases of rescue in 15 settlements of our region and saved the lives of 118 people. However, until now, a significant number of rescue stories continue to remain unknown.

During the relay of memory, students made presentations, creative works and research studies, which were dedicated to the stories of individual Righteous Among the Nations from different regions of Ukraine.

We express our sincere gratitude to schoolchildren, their teachers and parents for their concern for our common history!
