Yakubova

As a result of the aggression of the Russian Federation, which took advantage of the most acute political crisis in recent history to activate its neo-imperial project, Ukraine's state sovereignty in Crimea, parts of Donetsk and Luhansk regions has been violated since 2014. projects. In the context of the Russian-Ukrainian hybrid war, which has lasted more than six years and has become the longest armed conflict in Europe since World War II, a dramatic challenge has been posed to Ukraine’s geopolitical subjectivity and its very existence.

The Ukrainian crisis has become a powerful lever for the transformation of the modern world, even though most geopolitical heavyweights still perceive it with a great deal of skepticism and, in the case of Russia, do not hide their superiority and prejudice as something accidental, inferior, temporary. The Eurasian geopolitical space is in the process of large-scale transformation, which will radically change all participants.

Larysa Yakubova’s (Doctor of Historical Sciences, Leading Research Fellow of the Institute of History of Ukraine of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine) monograph reveals the content and methods of reconceptualizing Ukraine's internal and external tasks. Crimea and "Novorossiya" to Russia. According to the historian, Russia's claims to these territories are caused by the lack of relevant Ukrainian historiographical studies that would provide answers to painful questions: is Crimea really Ukrainian? What role did Russia play in the history of Crimea? whether the claims of the Crimean Tatars to national and cultural autonomy are justified etc.

Popular science publication "Eurasian Fault. Ukraine in the Age of Hybrid Challenges ”is accompanied by scientific commentaries and page-by-page references to sources, and also has a nominal index. L. Yakubova's monograph does not prove that "Crimea and Occupied territories are Ukraine" – it is enshrined in a number of basic international agreements and acts certified at the highest level by the world community, but offers a modern understanding of the Crimean issue and the problems of Ukrainian Donbass, their place in modern processes. Ukrainian nation-building, which can become the basis of national reconciliation and strengthening the integration power of the modern Ukrainian project.
