Guests from China come to the Museum. And you?

17.06.2020

You, dear Dnipro residents and who have arrived in the city, are welcome guests at the Museum “Jewish Memory and Holocaust in Ukraine”. Because our Museum, continuing its ONLINE TOURS AND PROGRAMS, resumed GROUP EXCURSIONS “IN REAL LIFE” in June. The Museum reveals the secrets of its permanent exhibition to visitors both from Ukraine and far beyond its borders… as far as the Far East can be.

These days, representatives of one of the leading Chinese electronic brands are visiting Dnipro (to guess the first letter of this brand’s name, you need to remember what students are looking for, figuring out the meanings of the unknowns in the equations). It is a good tradition (and extremely pleasant and honorable for us) that high-level delegations plan time to visit museum exhibitions. So now the Chinese delegation visited the Menorah Center, met with the Chief Rabin of Dnipro and the region, Shmuel Kaminetskyi, and, of course, did not ignore our Museum. This is not surprising, because there, guests find a lot of interesting, new and even close to themselves.

Today, together with Dr. Yehor Vradii, deputy director on scientific work, the guests remembered the unique stories of the Ukrainian Righteous among the Nations of Chinese origin, about the Chinese people’s tragedy and losses during World War II (Japanese occupation, the tragedy in Nanjing), discussed the ups and downs of the “cultural revolution” looking at Mao Zedong’s young portrait. The guests were delighted with the exhibition “The clocks that saw the past” donated to the Museum by Ihor Kolomoiskyi.

Believe me, this is just a small lake in a huge sea of stories (much more than the East China Sea) that hides the past and vice versa our Museum and its employees reveal.

We are waiting for you, dear Dnipro residents and guests of the city. You are a little closer… And… (you can continue this phrase yourself).

Igor Shchupak, director of the Museum
